The Childhood Communication Consultancy provides child-centred assessments and therapy to address speech, language, attention, emotional communication, listening, play and literacy difficulties. It caters for all ages, from babies to late teens.
Based in Carlton in Bedfordshire, its Chief Consultant, Jacqui Wright, has over 22 years experience as a specialist Speech and Language Therapist in South Africa, the USA and the UK. Jacqui has run five successful independent Speech and Language therapy practices, and worked in the NHS between 2002 to 2010.
Jacqui specialises in communication issues arising from ADHD, auditory processing disorders, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, dyslexia, dyspraxia, higher level language impairment in children and teenagers, literacy, selective mutism, sensory processing disorders, and specific language impairment.
The Childhood Communication Consultancy takes a holistic approach to its therapeutic interventions. It liaises with a network of multidisciplinary professionals to meet each child’s unique needs. This includes difficulties in areas such as visual and auditory processing, concentration, cognitive and academic performance, gross and fine motor skills, handwriting, and sensory integration.
Jacqui explains: “Therapy is done in a unique way, mainly through play that is appropriate to the child’s level and learning style. This child-centred approach develops confidence and self-esteem, as well as being highly motivational and fun. A child’s strengths are the building blocks and their weaknesses are overcome or greatly improved in a positive way.”
Jacqui also works as part of a multi-professional group in Harley Street, but her main practice for assessments and therapy is located at the Emmaus Village, Dom Gregory Building, in Carlton, which is conveniently located for Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxford and London.
